1. You've married
In Queensland, marriage generally cancels an earlier will unless it was made with that marriage in mind. Many people don't realise this.
2. You've separated or divorced
Divorce usually cancels gifts to a former spouse, but separation alone doesn't. If you've separated and haven't divorced, your old will may still leave everything to your ex.
3. You've had children or grandchildren
You may want to name a guardian, or set up a trust so young beneficiaries don't receive money outright at 18.
4. You've bought property or a business
How you own property matters. Jointly owned property usually passes to the other owner, whatever your will says.
5. Your executor is no longer the right person
If your executor has moved away, fallen ill or you've lost touch, pick someone who can actually do the job.
A fixed price
A simple will is a fixed $495 including GST, and an enduring power of attorney is $330. We can see you at Golden Beach or Scarborough.
